Residency Information

In accordance with BCPS Policy 5140 regarding residency & enrollment, families must provide very specific residency documents and must reside in the zone for Overlea High School. The first step for enrollment is to check that your address is zoned for Overlea by entering your address here.  

 

Incoming Students from Golden Ring, Parkville Middle, and Deep Creek Middle:

Families may bring their documents to OHS between the hours of 8:15am-2:30pm (closed 12-1) Monday-Friday to any member of our clerical team. You do not need to make an appointment. Parents must provide 5 documents for residency re-verification from the following groups:

¨  Current, Unexpired Lease (or include renewal letter) with all signatures OR mortgage statement/deed/tax bill/signed settlement statement showing parent name as the renter/owner

¨  Parent Photo ID (can be used as ONE supporting piece if the address matches)

¨  Three additional pieces of 1st class, non-junk mail dated in the last 60 days of the current date showing the parent name, address, date, and sender. For examples of accepted documents, please click here.


Shared Domiciles: (Living with a family member/friend)

If you need to renew an existing shared domicile, please contact Ms. Oliver at 443-809-5241 or via email at [email protected]. Please refer to the letter you received in the mail regarding acceptable documents.

NEW shared domiciles should contact the Residency Office at 443-809-6363 for an application (You must receive an approval BEFORE you make an enrollment appointment). More information can be found on their website located here.

Address Changes:

If you have recently relocated, you must provide the school with the updated address and supporting documents within 15 days of moving, per BCPS Rule 5140. You must provide the following:

¨  Current, Unexpired Lease (or include renewal letter) with all signatures OR mortgage statement/deed/tax bill/signed settlement statement showing parent name as the renter/owner

¨  Parent Photo ID (can be used as ONE supporting piece if the address matches)

¨  Three additional pieces of 1st class, non-junk mail dated in the last 60 days of the current date showing the parent name, address, date, and sender. For examples of accepted documents, please click here.

Documents can be brought to the school during normal office hours or emailed to Ms. Rich at [email protected] with your student’s name as the subject as well as Address Change  (ex. John Doe, Address Change)

Please Note: The school will not be able update the address without ALL the required documents referenced above. Transportation can take an additional week to update their system to reflect that change, and that is out of the school based staff’s control. The updated transportation information will be available to view in Focus once the update takes place.

If you are currently experiencing a hardship, including homelessness, an informal kinship care agreement, foster care, or assisting an unaccompanied youth, please contact our Pupil Personnel worker, Mr. Wimberly at 443-809-6473. Certain circumstances qualify for immediate enrollment during the school year.
